Starting to come true...

SO! I finally got all my paperwork sorted out and straightened up. I got all my financial aid in order, got student accounts to sign all my paperwork and send on the money to ISE! I went to the study abroad office and got my health insurance all worked out, andddd got a few of the many shots I need to get all last week.

I'M GOING ON SEMESTER AT SEA! FOR REAL! Check it out:

Voyage Theme: Globalization and The Post American / Flat World

Itinerary:

  • Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada
  • Cadiz, Spain
  • Casablanca, Morocco
  • Accra, Ghana
  • Cape Town, South Africa
  • Port Louis, Mauritius
  • Chennai, India
  • Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam
  • Hong Kong / Shanghai, China
  • Yokohama / Kobe, Japan
  • Honolulu / Hilo, Hawaii, USA
  • San Diego, California, USA

So, uh, heck yes. I'm going everywhere. I'm so stoked to learn, and absorb, as much as possible. I'm enrolled in four classes right now, and hopefully I'm going to add one more when we get to the ship, and I picked classes that I think will really help me accomplish the goals I've set for myself during this voyage.

Global Studies A-Day: Everyone has to take global studies, but I'm actually really, really excited about it. I'm hoping we're going to learn about religion and cultural customs - I mean, anything really. I'm just excited!

World Music: PERFECT! I don't know really what's going to be expected of me in this class, but damn, I'm excited to hear as much as I can. I'm pretty sure the bulk of our assignments are going to be "when in port, go listen to a show, participate if possible." Um, Yes, Please.

Public Speaking: It's the last class I have to take to get my diploma. It will be great, I'm sure, though I don't have much to say about it right now. Ironic?

International Service Learning: I'm going to wait until I attend the first meeting of this class before I write about it here. I want you guys to really understand it, and I don't want to muddle up what it really is. But, I'm wicked excited about it. More later.

And when we get to the ship, I'm hoping to add Anthropology of Food and Nutrition.

I cannot wait to meet everyone on the ship, and... just everything! I CANNOT WAIT!
